Whenever we see a person very majestic and excellent we used to say that he is like a tiger. Even the most famous cricket player Sourav Ganguly is referred as “Bengal Tiger”.
But the most sympathetic fact is that the real tiger species is slowly becoming extinct. Tiger is the national animal of India. There were abundant tiger reserves in India. But many of them have been hunted down in the recent years by hunters and poachers for skin, teeth etc. The government is looking after this issue with serious concern. They have started “Project Tiger” which aims at conserving the species by rehabilitating the tiger reserves and prevent them being hunted down.

Monday, May 25th, 2009THE TAJ MAHAL
Thursday, May 21st, 2009Everyone has heard about the Taj Mahal and many have seen it. Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor, in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died while delivering their fourteenth child, builds the Taj Mahal. The emperor is said to have loved her immensely, and made this mausoleum in her honor. The Taj Mahal is located at Agra. The entire edifice is made from white marble, with semi-precious stones in the intricate designs of the inlays. The architecture is of Persian and Mughlai origin. History states that the Taj was built in 1642,required thousands of artisans to built it, and legend states that the emperor had the hands cut off of the main architect, so that he should not replicate the design again.
Pet Animals
Sunday, May 17th, 2009Man is a social animal and he always interacts with others. He not only makes friendship with fellow human beings but also with other species like the animals. We always like to have pets in our houses. Mostly we have dogs, cats, parrots etc., in countries like Indonesia snakes and lions are even grown as pet animals. Dogs are very friendly to us and also remain loyal to us. Cats are mainly grown for their cute and cuddly nature. Doctors suggest that the risks of heart attacks are reduced in a human being who has pets.
I can never forget the rabbit I had in my childhood
Nanotechnology
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009Science and technology are advancing everyday with newer innovations being brought in everyday. What remains as a new concept today becomes outdated tomorrow. In recent years there is a revolutionary concept coming in the field of science, the Nanotechnology. It is the science which deals with the material size of about one nanometer which is about one billionth of a meter. It was found that when the materials were reduced to this size their physical and chemical properties changed in a miraculous way. High amount of research is going on in this field and the U.S government is allotting billions of dollars for research in this field. It has changed the conventional saying “think big” to “think small”
Indian Space Research
Saturday, May 9th, 2009The sky and space has always remained as a mysterious wonder for us since childhood. When went to schools we learned about the solar system, planets, galaxies, stars etc which gave us some idea about the space. But for some it remained as an obsession and they went to study in deep about space and planets. We made a human being land on the moon, even a dog and monkey.NASA has spent many dollars and had done extensive research in space and has even brought us samples of rocks in moon and also various facts about space. We are now even investigating the possibilities of extra terrestrial life that is life in other planets. Indian Space research has achieved many milestones in the recent years too. We recently launched the satellite named”Chandrayan”to moon which was an important event in the world of space research. Now we are trying to send human beings to space which when accomplished will mark India’s position strongly in space research
Microorganisms
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009Microbes are heterogeneous groups with distinct classes of living organisms. Originally they were classified under plant and animal kingdom. But this classification does not satisfy many researchers and hence a third kingdom called “Protista” was formed for them. On basis of the difference in cellular organization and biochemistry, microbes are classified into two groups, namely: Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. Bacteria and blue - green algae fall under prokaryotes whereas fungi, algae, protozoa and slime moulds fall under the category of Eukaryotes. Bacteria do not contain chlorophyll. They are unicellular and do not contain branching structure except in so called “Higher Bacteria” (Actinomycets).
Disinfectants
Friday, May 1st, 2009In general microorganisms are ubiquitous. They cause contamination, infection and decay. Hence it is important to remove or destroy them.
Destruction of all the pathogenic organisms is called disinfection. “Antisepsis” means prevention of infection, by inhibiting the growth of microbes. The chemical disinfectants can be safely applied over the skin in order to prevent infection is called “Antiseptics”. Agents that are capable of killing bacteria are called “Bactericidal agents”. Agents that only prevent the multiplication of bacteria are called as “Bacteriostatic Agents”. Physical agents like sunlight, drying, filtration, radiation, ultrasonic rays can also remove bacteria. Some examples of chemical agents are alcohols, aldehydes, phenols, dyes, and gases.
